Erica and Dan, the
"mom and dad
to be",
called us to say they were expecting their first baby and didn't know if
they were having a boy or girl. When they went for the sonogram they
asked the technician to write the sex of the baby on a piece of paper and
put it in a sealed envelope. They then mailed it to us...TOP
SECRET
so they wouldn't know!
The decorations on the outside of the cake were supposed to be nonspecific.
A cute stork with a teddy bear bundle. The saying to be, "What do you
think...Blue or Pink?"
The inside of the cake would reveal
the sex of the baby. If it was going to be a girl we were going to
bake a
pink champagne cake. A boy
would be
blue raspberry.

We got the envelope the next day! We were so excited to find out what we
were going to bake. What fun to keep this secret!
That Saturday they picked up the cake...nothing on their order to let them
know if it was a
boy or girl.

Our other favorite treat they did was offer favors for
their guests to take home. Chocolate chip cookies...with nuts for
a boy and without for a girl!
